Blair Pathways is now working with Aurora Lights to create the Blair Pathways Lesson Plan Project! We are excited to combine our efforts to bring lesson plans about Blair’s History into the curricula of school children from middle grades through high school! “Aurora Lights supports educational opportunities, locally-based projects and connections between academia and activism that strengthen the connections between human communities and their natural environment.” Several lesson plans created by Aurora Lights are available on their website.

Dea Goblirsch, an Aurora Lights intern, will focus on middle school lesson plans while Saro will focus on high school educational material. Dea and Saro will collaborate through the fall of 2011 into the early spring of 2012 to produce materials which will make use of Blair Pathways media including the online archives and the CD and Booklet.

The Blair Mountain Lesson Plan Project is committed to producing the following results from its lesson plans:

1)      Ensuring a solid comprehension of the West Virginia Mine Wars and their relevance in relationship to historic trends in the U.S. labor movement and the early 1900’s political climate.
